If you want to understand how we live as technosocially connected citizens in today’s society then Dictionary of Cyborg Anthropology is for you to get. In this book, Amber Case illustrates the concept of how we’ve become augmented humans or cyborgs. The definition is not based on the idea of a half man/machine character but more of how we interact with technology and how we communicate with one another through technology. Some of the topics that the book will cover are online human behavior, human/computer relationships, interface interaction, mobile technology, the second self, time and space compression, hyperlinked memories, panic architecture, mobile technology, interface evaporation and how technology is changing the way we live.

If you don’t know who Amber Case is, she’s a Cyborg Anthropologist and UX Designer from Portland, Oregon. Her main focus is applying anthropology to mobile computing and social software. Amber has spoken at various industry conferences including MIT’s Futures of Entertainment and Inverge: The Interactive Convergence Conference, Ignite Portland and Ignite Boulder. Amber also co-founded CyborgCamp, an unconference on the future of humans and technology. In 2010 she was named one of Fast Company’s Most Influential Women in Tech.
