Go Beyond QR Codes with Augmented Reality Business Cards
Since the appearance of QR codes, I’m sure some of you have at one time generated your own for your business card, brochure or perhaps on signages to help drive traffic to your website. QR codes are useful but only if they can be used in a creative way. Now we’re seeing a trend where augmented reality is becoming integrated into media platforms.
Augmented reality is still in the early phase of development and consumption but there has been some success in utilizing this technology for various projects such as mobile and games. It seems that it has moved on to business networking starting with the traditioanl business cards. Before, QR codes were scanned on a business card to drive you to a person’s online network. Augmented reality allows users to see not only your contact information but also your portfolio and social networks from a 3D perspective, much like a hologram. A company called Toxin Labs in Germany has created a coding program which allows your business card to be studied via augmented reality. This is another example of the embodied interactive experience but is this something that you would like to implement for your business profile? They say print is dying but it looks like it can be complemented with today’s developing media technology. If you’re interested, you can go to Augmented Business Card to get more information.
