What I like about TED presentations is that they offer inspiration and ideas from today’s great innovators and thinkers. I was very excited to find out that Amber Case gave an eight minute presentation on how we have become cyborgs. Now, when she means cyborgs it’s not from the typical Hollywood sci fi movie but how we interact with technology. I think this presentation will help you better understand what she means about human and technology relationships and how we should also sometimes step back and slow down on our utilization of technology.

Amber Case is a cyborg anthropologist that studies the symbiotic interactions between humans and machines and considers how our values and culture are being shaped by living lives increasingly mediated by high technology.

Technology is evolving us, says Amber Case, as we become a screen-staring, button-clicking new version of homo sapiens. We now rely on “external brains” (cell phones and computers) to communicate, remember, even live out secondary lives. But will these machines ultimately connect or conquer us? Case offers surprising insight into our cyborg selves.
