The New Myspace Rebirth
After a couple years in social media limbo it looks like Myspace is looking to regain it’s throne as it now offers a whole new design layout and interactive experience that is favored in today’s online media environment. If you take a look at the video, you’ll see that the functionality is a hybrid of sorts from various other networks such as Tumblr, Facebook and Pinterest but I like how it offers a drag and drop functionality within the music playlist that is kept from the previous Myspace version. In the past, Myspace was an enclosed ecosystem with limited social capabilities but now in this version, you can integrate it with Facebook and Twitter.
The fact that they took full advantage of HTML5 makes the new site very robust. When I heard that Justin Timberlake became co-owner of Myspace I would assume that they would stick to the music niche market and of course all of us frequently teased and taunted Myspace for its outdated functionalities and decade old layouts but it looks like Justin and the rest of the Myspace were busy putting together a near seamless UX experience for all of us to try out. Will this cause Facebook to flinch? We’ll see, the video is just the video promoting what it can do, let’s experience the site and see how well it goes.
What do you think? Would you go back to Myspace once the new site comes out?
