Mike Newhouse Promotes SEO as a Key Ingredient in Online Content Creation
About a year ago, I blogged about Mike Newhouse and his presentation here in Dallas on the topic of creating search engine friendly content using text and video on my cyberculture blog, CyberAmbient. This time around I had a great opportunity to interview Mike Newhouse on the issue of SEO value and content creation, in fact, if it wasn’t for SEO, I wouldn’t have this blogpost because Mike actually found me through keyword links based on my prior post which shows that SEO really does work.
Mike Newhouse is a Dallas based online marketing strategist and Internet marketing speaker who is well versed in the areas of online video, SEO, PPC, social media and Internet marketing with information he occasionally posts on his official blog. Mike is also the CEO of his own Internet marketing company, Impyre (pronounced Empire), and so far his clients are very pleased with the results, especially now when businesses need to invest more online where it is more cost effective, more productive and greater customer search.
Explain what your SEO company, Impyre, is all about.
Impyre is everything Internet marketing, PPC marketing and SEO done more efficiently. I’ve been in the industry for 5 years now and with the addition of the social media landscape, search engine optimization continues to grow, that’s why I changed my company from the Web 2.0 Group to Impyre, as SEO continues to grow and change I have to adapt to it.
I help my clients embrace new marketing styles and how to convert online visitors to new customers. These companies that embrace online marketing and online media are those companies that will flourish and grow.
How do you feel about Google+?
Google+ offers something different to the online user but it shouldn’t be considered a competitor to other social platforms such as Facebook or Twitter. People won’t just rebuild their entire online network but they will interact with a new one for their own particular purposes. Google’s goal is to offer the best online experience for the individual user. Basically, Google is redefining how their products work and unlike their other products like Wave, it looks like Google+ is here to stay, especially for the tech communities.
How do you feel about CMS (Content Management System) for site building?
I use WordPress because it works really well for my clients because they got what they want and slowly they take charge of their own sites. Unlike other CMS platforms, WordPress is very user friendly and it works great for search engine optimization. In fact, I recently migrated a client’s data from their old website into WordPress and their organic search rankings jumped 7%!
How do you feel about multicultural marketing, particularly among Hispanics?
There is a huge potential in the Hispanic market because nobody generated translated content for the Hispanic community. When you do keyword research for Hispanic words look for one or two words to optimize but look for main terms that focuses on your content and demographic.
Any SEO tips you like to share?
Absolutely,
- Everybody is using online videos, content is more then just text.
- A heavy frequented video presence gives your content more credibility on search engines. This drives users to go watch your videos.
- Mobile marketing is embraced by users, it does bring value but understand that some people still don’t know how to interact much with a smartphone.
- Focus on online content, create a strong enough content that people want to hear.
- Talk about the message.
- Each page of content should focus on researched key terms.
- Title tags, anchor text, linking are some of the elements where you insert keywords.
- Social media such as Facebook and Twitter is great for customer engagement but be sure you know how to communicate with them and which are exactly the right ons for you.
