Why Aren't You Following Cultural, Social & Media Researchers?

The benefits of understanding the best marketing practices and strategies when it comes to online business is definitely rewarding; I go to meetups and conferences and I hear seasoned professionals who manage campaigns in social media or some other form of online advertising and how they gained followers, revenue, purchases, sales, etc.but what about the reasons why we are attracted to such technology or is it the fact that the technology facilitates our needs for a transcendent form of human communication within our time/space?

I was very fortunate to have met Amber Case, a well known Cyborg Anthropologist, online because she inspired me to continue research into how we as a tech savvy society are so immersed into today’s interactive technology. She mentions that it’s an extension of ourselves and these tools assist us in our daily lives. Learning how to use online media technology for business and marketing practices is great but if we share knowledge from a human/technology behavioral perspective, it’ll give us the understanding of why and how we “augment” ourselves through technology and in some ways continue our need for human interaction and communication.
