Seeing Ourselves through Technology by Jill Rettberg
I really enjoyed reading this book, Seeing Ourselves through Technology by Jill Rettberg, because it presents the idea of social media engagement as a means to represent ourselves online, a narrative of who we are. I enjoyed the collected quotes from various artists that illustrates the tools we use to assist us in communicating the experiences in our lives to practically the whole world.
As you reach the second half of the book, it switches to the analytical. The author points out that as social media evolves, so does algorithms for the data being shared by you. This data is key to decipher how marketers can spend their resources on who to reach an audience and how best to reach them.
I highly recommend this book for those who want to do deep research into the social media culture and why we take selfies everywhere we go, record ourselves making emotional testimonials or blog our knowledge on certain things. This book is available on Amazon.
