  1. As a parent of a brilliant engineering student I want you to know that there are very few entry level job s for engineers. Ms. Cardona’s statement that there are “tens of thousands of jobs left unfilled” is not supported by empirical data. And you can certainly observe on the inspireStem website that there is no data. If today you look at the job boards that aggregate job postings for engineers you will find that less than 2% of jobs are for entry level engineers. Unfortunately, the legislation does nothing to protect American college students.

  2. We have to make a concerted effort to change our old way of thinking and get with the program, as they would say. It is imperative that we prepare our young people for the jobs of the future — STEM careers. I might also add, these jobs are recession proof and can lead to entrepreneurship as well. I am particularly appealing to the black and Latino community to engage their children and their schools into making STEM education a priority.

  3. The four-year degree, which will launch this fall, will prepare graduates to become licensed secondary math teachers but with a more specialized perspective than teachers who have a traditional education diploma. Ohio Northern believes its program will help maintain America’s place as a global leader in science and technology by graduating educators who will inspire young people to become the country’s next great innovators.
